The development of technology, the European Commission is reviewing the ecodesign and energy labeling requirements for solid fuel boilers and solid fuel local space heaters and has launched a public consultation on this initiative. We therefore invite businesses and other interested parties to provide comments on potential impact assessments. Regarding the initiative to revise the ecodesign requirements and the initiative to revise the energy labeling rules for solid fuel (biomass or fossil fuel) boilers, comments can be submitted until December 21, 2023. On the other hand, comments on the initiative to review the ecodesign requirements for solid fuel (biomass or fossil fuel) local space heaters can be submitted until December 14, 2023.
We invite you to give your opinion by filling in the questionnaires that can be found in the hyperlinks to each specific initiative. The comments provided will be taken into account in the further development and improvement of this initiative. During Industry Email List the public consultation, the European Commission wants to receive the opinion of the interested parties on the mentioned solutions in the impact assessments, as well as the experience so far in the implementation process of the relevant regulations.
These requirements were previously revised in 2015. Considering the rapid development of technology since then, any information about the current situation in the market and technologies will also be appreciated. Solid fuel boilers are still significant consumers of energy and emitters of greenhouse gases and pollutants. Pollution, mostly from solid particles, is very high in densely populated areas with a large proportion of solid fuel boilers, increasing the risks to public health.
